Billy Ferrell started writing poems and playing guitar at twelve years old.
As a teenager he had a group that singed in the hallways and on street corners of Detroit, MI.
He had a big seller for his song "I Got To Find Love", and "Looking Good Everyday" on the LaCrystal records label also out of Detroit.
His early idols were Sam Cook, Brook Benton, and Ray Charles.
Billy appeared at Detroit's Twenty-Grand Ballroom shows hosted Martha Jean the Queen, (a popular local DJ (WJLB radio station at the time), Baker's Keyboard and Detroit's Flame Show Bar. In NYC he appeared at Gayheart Ballroom, Town Hill. the Pink Angel and a many other clubs on the east coast, including Atlanta, GA famous Underground Club, London Groove- London, England.
